Gel Nimbus from Asics:
Asics Cushioning Shoes Supreme

. The Gel Nimbus is a shoe series offered by top running shoe and athletic gear manufacturer Asics. Asics creates shoes with the philosophy that a sound mind makes a sound body, so their offers more or less put an emphasis on helping you improve your performance. Asics creates an entire family of running shoes including shoes designed for underpronators, overpronators, and neutral runners. The Nimbus shoe series, for one, is targeted to underpronators who need premium cushioning with enough support to prevent an overly cushy ride.

Every year, the Nimbus shoe gets even better, and its cushioning is always enhanced. Now, the shoe is on its 12th year. With the release of the Asics Gel Nimbus 12, Asics also released, for the first time, some new technologies it has recently come up with. Here are some of the exciting new technologies incorporated into this classic, highly venerated cushioning trainer.

New Features of the Gel Nimbus 12

  • gel nimbusGuidance Line
  • Asymmetrical Lacing Design
  • Discrete Eyelets
  • Plus 3
  • Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning

  • Guidance Line

The hottest new technology employed in the production of the 12th Gel Nimbus shoe is the Guidance Line. The Guidance Line is one long groove that runs along the length of the shoe. It allows the foot to function more efficiently by decreasing the effort the foot has to exert in order to complete its gait. This is an ingenious addition to the Nimbus; instead of the shoe just being a plain cushioning shoe, it has now also become a very flexible running shoe.

  • Asymmetrical Lacing Design

The asymmetrical lacing design that Asics has adopted recently has pushed the classic laces to the background. This new lacing system makes running more comfortable by keeping the laces from biting into your feet too hard. Instead of locking down on your feet, the laces conform to the bone structure of your feet. This helps the feet breathe easy and move freely while the laces remain as snug as ever. This new technology also helps to prevent irritation, and thus further improves the comfort and fit that the Nimbus shoes boast of.

  • Discrete Eyelets

Asics also added discrete eyelets to the Nimbus. These eyelets are independently distributed throughout the shoe to help prevent tension coming from the laces. This supports the asymmetrical lacing design so that the foot will thrive and perform its best as it is in a shoe whose fit can easily be customized according to your foot.

  • Plus 3

One of the more noticeable adjustments that Asics made to the Nimbus shoe is the Plus 3 feature, which raises the shoe for 3 more millimeters. The extra height added is proven effective in relieving

  • Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning

And lastly, since the Gel Nimbus is known as a cushioning shoe, Asics reinforced its cushioning system by adding extra forefoot cushioning. The forefoot has been getting some attention lately, so Asics added more shock protection in that area. The best part is that the forefoot cushioning that Asics added is gender-specific, which means the cushioning is different for the men’s version and the women’s version. So you can expect a great feel and a great experience thanks to this cushioning system.

The Classic Gel Nimbus Ingredients

Aside from these newly added technologies and features in the Gel Nimbus 12 running shoe, Asics retained some of the classic Nimbus technologies and features that play an important role in the shoe’s overall makeup. The top two retained technologies in the Nimbus are the Space Trusstic System and the Impact Guidance System.

The Space Trusstic System is a special arch support system that yields to the changing shape of runners’ arch. This is another gender-specific feature.

Then there’s the Impact Guidance System, which is a special design philosophy from Asics. This technology places linked componentry in the shoes. The purpose of this is to enhance the natural gait and movement of the foot as it hits the ground and takes off again. Most runners feel that their foot touches the ground heel-first every time they take a step, but the IGS technology reduces the impact caused by the landing, slows pronation, and guides the foot smoothly through its natural movement.
